Chick-fil-A Reportedly Sets World Record, Runs Out of Chicken

Rick Warren, pastor of the Southern California megachurch Saddleback Church, says Dan Cathy called, and claimed a world record. A Gwinnett restaurant had to close early after running out of fresh chicken.

According to Southern California megachurch Pastor Rick Warren's Twitter feed, Dan Cathy, head of Chick-fil-A, called Warren and claimed to have set a world record in sales.

"@DanCathy just called me.  #ChickfilA has already set a world record today, with 7 more hours to go in the West.  #outofchicken"

Saddleback Church is located in Orange County, Calif.

Gwinnett restaurants were packed with people throughout the day Wednesday (Aug. 1), designated as Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day; the location on Scenic Highway in Snellville had to close early.

"We just couldn't keep up with the demand," said Snellville manager Kevin Kelliher. "We ran out of thawed chicken and people were having to wait 40 minutes for their meals."

Kelliher estimated that between 3-4,000 people stopped by his location Wednesday for Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day.

"It was nuts," he said.

On average, they serve around 1,500 per day.

In Loganville, police and fire officials had to come out to manage the crowds.

"I expected it to be big, just not this big," said Loganville Chick-fil-A owner Edgar Brush to Loganville Patch. "Did I expect I would have to be standing here with the fire marshal letting people in - No Maam."

Another event is scheduled at Chick-fil-A for Friday, but this time it's backed by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH SUPPORTING TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE! Noone did any gay bashing. This is out-of-proportion to distract from the miserable shape of the U.S economy prolonged by the blunders of the current administration. Devide and conquer seems to be the chief mode-of-operation of this president. Don't fall for it. Lets get back to the real problems, jobs, the economy, finances, decency and integrity in government.
