Poll: 'Facebook Parenting' Shooting Video Draws Parental Reactions; Share Your Thoughts

A North Carolina parent shoots his child's laptop after viewing the child's Facebook post.

A North Carolina parent has fired shots heard 'round the world. Literally.

Last week, Tommy Jordan read a post on Facebook by his 15-year-old daughter shortly after he did some repairs to his daughter's laptop. Seems the post was disrespectful to the child's parents, and that did not sit well with Jordan.

"I'm not your damn slave," read a part of the daughter's statement, according to Jordan.

So Jordan also went online, with a rather emphatic response. He read his daughter's offensive Facebook post -- and then shot up the laptop. Really. He fired nine rounds from his .45 handgun into the computer. The entire matter was captured on YouTube, and it now has over 18 million views.

And it has gotten lots of affirmative responses.

From the Los Angeles Times: Erika Jove wrote, “As a daughter, mother, educator, and a psychologist, I comment your actions. I could only hope to work with more children whose parents made them accountable for their actions.”

Also, Jordan wrote about it on his own Facebook page.

"We’ve always told her that what you put online can effect you forever," he said, according to the Los Angeles Times. "She’s seen first-hand through this video the worst possible scenario that can happen. One post, made by her Dad, will probably follow him the rest of his life; just like those mean things she said on Facebook will stick with the people her words hurt for a long time to come."

So now we ask, Suwanee: Do you agree with Jordan's response to his child's action? Do you think it was too drastic? Take our poll, and share your comments.
