Gwinnett Police Seeking Volunteers
The Gwinnett Police Department is looking for 100 volunteers by the end of 2011. Could you be one?
The Gwinnett County Police Department has just initiated a new civilian volunteer program and you can participate. This program will give the Gwinnett community a great opportunity to be involved with our police department. Individuals volunteering with this program will receive free training, contribute to the community and build their resumes at the same time.
Volunteer opportunities are available in the following areas:
- Animal shelter
- Role playing for police training exercises
- Citizen’s Police Academy
- Community Emergency Response Team
- Office assistance
- Special Events
Individuals interested in volunteering should be at least eighteen years of age and will need to pass a background check. The police department is asking volunteers to make a commitment of one year with a minimum of 24 hours of volunteer service. More time will be available if desired. Currently there are thirty-one active volunteers in this program and the department’s goal for 2011 is to have 100 volunteers active by year’s end. The Gwinnett County Government is hoping to reach a goal of 1,000,000 volunteer hours for the year and by volunteering with the Gwinnett County Police Department you can help them achieve this goal!
