GEORGIA COMPANY EYES TWINKIES MAKER: Flowers Foods, based in Thomasville, Ga., is setting itself up to buy Hostess Brands, the makers of Twinkies and other popular snack foods, according to Patch and other media reports. Flowers makes the Sunbeam and Nature's Own brands.
NO-RISK BCS TICKET PACKAGE: A Suwanee-based travel agency is touting a special ticket-travel package for the BCS Championship game in January 2013. Esoteric Sports' deal requires a $300 deposit, which is refunded if "your team" -- either Alabama or Georgia, in this case -- is not invited to the big game.
NORTH GWINNETT ADVANCES IN PLAYOFFS: The Suwanee school overwhelmed defending champion Grayson 28-10 on Friday to advance in the AAAAAA playoffs. Next foe: at Lovejoy.
ARRESTS IN GWINNETT SLAYING: Gwinnett police arrested two neighbors of a 64-year-old Lawrenceville woman who was killed shortly before Thanksgiving. One of the suspects has been charged with felony murder.
