McGinnis Ferry/I-85 Bridge Opens in Suwanee
Extension from Satellite Boulevard to Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road is operational.
With horns sounding, cars drove across the new McGinnis Ferry Road bridge over I-85 on Tuesday morning.
About 10:45 a.m., cars began driving across the bridge from the new intersection with Old Peachtree Road. A few moments later, Georgia DOT officials removed orange barrells on the other side of the bridge, and traffic flowed toward Old Peachtree from Satellite Boulevard.
In total, the new stretch of 2.4 miles runs from Satellite Boulevard to Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. It provides new connections with Gwinco Boulevard (to be renamed Celebration Drive), Old Peachtree Road and Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. Also, Northolt Parkway extends from Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road near the new bridge.
Suwanee Patch will have more coverage of this event.

It's still a pain to get from Horizon Dr to the new bridge over 85. Any word when those Old Peachtree lanes will be open?

I think they are open now, unless I am unaware of something.

However, McGinnis Ferry now ends at the Super H Mart at Lawrenceville-Suwanee, which is not far from Horizon.
