It has not been a happy 2013 for Moondance Restaurant & Lounge in Suwanee. Already, the restaurant has said it is "closed until further notice."
In a Facebook posting dated January 3, Moondance said it is "diligently seeking financial investors to keep Moondance open ..."
The restaurant, which opened on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in late 2011, had begun offering membership packages recently as a means of staying in business. The packages sold for as much as $5,000. Also, Moondance had reduced operating days to Thursday-Sunday for 2013.
It's New Year's events were sold out. It offered various forms of live entertainment and fine dining.
"Thanks to all of you who have contacted us so far. Keep your ideas and contacts coming. We truly value being a part of so many of your special moments and hope to be able to continue to do so in the near future," the posting continued.
The closure, even if temporary, adds to a growing casualty list for independently operated Suwanee restaurants. Olde Towne Tavern & Grille closed December 20 in a bankruptcy proceeding. Also, Cafe Gourmandises on PIB has closed.
And recently, Diggers on PIB closed and reopened as part of the Buffalo's Cafe chain, under the same ownership. Benefits of being part of a chain were cited as crucial to the decision.
