More Changes Coming to Suwanee Retail Area
Cooley's Pizza relocates, and another business seeks to expand.
A beleaguered Suwanee retail plaza has suffered another loss, although a nearby business is seeking to expand.
Cooley's Pizza has moved from the plaza on McGinnis Ferry Road at Scales Road (street address, 960 Scales Road) to a larger plaza nearby.
Also, the nearby storage business hopes to expand its space.
A sign on Cooley's informs patrons, "We have moved," and refers customers to the new location, which is near Walgreen's on Peachtree Industrial and McGinnis Ferry Road.

Cooley's move leaves Subway as the only retail tenant in this seven-unit plaza.
However, the self-storage business in an adjacent plaza has been rebranded as Public Storage, and it has applied to city officials for rezoning, with plans to expand.
Public Storage at 3900 McGinnis Ferry Road sits on a site of about 5 acres. The rezoning application was tabled at the February Suwanee City Council meeting, and could be back on the March agenda.
Several units adjacent to the self-storage business are vacant, and apparently the storage business would use these for its expansion.
Retail real estate continues to struggle in Suwanee; in 4Q 2012, the vacancy rate was 27 percent for mult-tenant real estate, above the metro Atlanta average.

They don't need another pizza joint over there. Johnny's and Riverside are already that way but whatever. I'd love to see a salad/soup bar.
