New Restaurant Plans To Open in Olde Towne Site in Suwanee

The Uptown Grille is eyeing an April rollout in Town Center.

Updated March 25

Less than three months after Olde Towne Tavern & Grille closed in Suwanee, another restaurant is planning to open in the same site.

The Uptown Grille plans to debut in mid-April in Town Center, according to ownership members who were at the site Friday (March 8). The property was unlocked for the first time since December, and notices of the bankruptcy proceeding were removed from the doors.

Suwanee resident Karim Sadruddin is the point person for the new ownership group. He said he has "always had a passion for restaurants," and has experience with Bear's Best club in Suwanee.

He said the Uptown Grille will not be a sports bar, but will have an upscale touch a la the Cheesecake Factory. He said chefs will be from restaurants in Buckhead, as well as the Chateau Elan resort in Braselton.

Olde Towne closed December 20, in a Chapter 7 bankruptcy proceeding. Owner Robert Moravek bought the restaurant in 2011, but filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July 2012. However, the case was converted to Chapter 7, which required an immediate shutdown, when the bankruptcy trustee felt that Moravek was not complying with the Chapter 11 terms.

Yes, Susan. I had a feeling someone would take advantage of that site soon.
