For the second straight season, the North Gwinnett High girls basketball team has reached the state AAAAAA basketball semifinals.

North defeated Alpharetta, 55-41, on Tuesday in Suwanee to reach the final four. North will take on the North Cobb-Tift County winner on Saturday (7 p.m.) at Georgia Tech in one semifinal.

North's region and Gwinnett rival Norcross will be in the other semifinal. Norcross will take on Langston Hughes after defeating Cherokee on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the Peachtree Ridge boys will attempt to keep their title run alive. The Lions will play at Wheeler the quarterfinals.

The state title games for boys and girls will be March 9 in Macon.
