How Many From Suwanee Will Run Peachtree Road Race?

An interactive map gives registration details for the July 4th race.

It's amost time for the traditional Peachtree Road Race in Atlanta -- as in Wednesday, July 4th. So now we ask: How many people from Suwanee will run in the world's largest 10-kilometer (6.2-mile) race?

An interactive map published by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution gives an idea. The map shows that about 1.6 percent of the expected 60,000 registrants are from the 30024 ZIP code. That translates into about 960 people. In 2011, about the same number of people from Suwanee registered for the race.

Are you running Peachtree? Do you know someone who is? Tell us in the comments below.

The map shows that the Suwanee contingent is among the highest population concentrations.

The race begins at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, near Lenox Square in Buckhead. It finishes at Piedmont Park. (See the attached course map.)

With all the heat recently, the situation: Forecast for Wednesday is a high of 92, with scattered thunderstorms; temperature at race time is expected to be in the mid-70s.

NOTE: WXIA-11Alive will have live coverage of the 2012 Peachtree Road Race on July 4, 6:30-10 a.m.

Last year I broke a string of 16 consecutive Peachtree Road races while I was in Cooperstown for baseball. I'm back this year and ready to run. But like Chip said, I'm not looking forward to the heat!

This was my first Peachtree. I was expecting heat and the weather was perfect for running. Are you guys telling me not to get used to it!?

@MikeCottmeyer - Cloud cover held temps down more than expected. I read 71 degrees at start time which was down a little from last year. Glad you had a good run. It's a quite an event.
