Son Suspected in Murder of Elderly Mother Arrested
Gwinnett Police confirm Mark Wilson was arrested Wednesday evening.
The man wanted in connection with the stabbing death of his disabled and elderly mother this week in Gwinnett has been arrested.
Gwinnett County Police Department's Cpl. Jake Smith confirmed that Mark Wilson, 42, was arrested Wednesday (Sept. 12) at about 6:40pm.
Officers found a champagne colored 2006 Toyota Camry reported missing from the home of Phyllis Wilson, 72, at a QuikTrip at the intersection of Grayson Highway (S.R. 20) and Simonton Road. This was less than two miles away from the crime scene in unincorporated Lawrenceville. Wilson was taken into custody without incident.
Mrs. Wilson was found dead in her home at 1139 Simonton Glen Way on Tuesday morning by her husband and caretaker. She was partially paralyzed. The Medical Examiner's Office determined she had been stabbed.
The Camry was missing from the home and police were unable to locate Mark Wilson, who lived at home with his parents. The son reportedly suffers from schizophrenia.
On Tuesday evening, police obtained warrants for aggravated assault and felony murder. Investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the murder.
