Annual overnight camp event will be held Saturday in Sims Lake Park.
This Saturday, Sims Lake Park in Suwanee will be home to many campers, when the city hosts the 2012 Great American Campout event, according to a news release.
The event begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, and camp breaks at 8 a.m. Sunday, July 1. Activities, including family games led by Boosterthon representatives, begin around 7 p.m. A light snack of s'mores and trail mix will be provided.
Campers are responsible for bringing tents, sleeping bags, drinks (non-alcoholic only), food, lanterns, flashlights, and bug spray. The City of Suwanee will provide port-a-potties in each camping field and lighting until 10:30 p.m., officials said. All campers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
