Suwanee Council Recognizes Level Creek Elementary

Also, zoning is changed to allow for a Jimmy John's restaurant.

Level Creek Elementary got more recognition Tuesday.

The Suwanee City Council commended Principal Dr. Nancy Kiel and her staff at City Hall. The school was recognized recently as a Georgia School of Excellence by the state Department of Education.

The school has been open five years, and Kiel noted that the award was given for student gains during a three year period.

In other action Tuesday:

  • the council approved transferring $700,000 from other funds into the city's general fund. This would be to pay for projects in 2013, including the Pedestrian Bicycle Plan and the Buford Highway sidewalks project;
  • the council OK'd a zoning change for a strip mall at 3429 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. This will allow in a Jimmy John's restaurant, which wanted the zoning change for a drive-thru with speakers.
