Suwanee, Gwinnett Leaders To Meet on HB386
The meeting Tuesday will delay the start of the Suwanee City Council meeting.
The Suwanee City Council meeting will start later than usual Tuesday (Sept. 25), because city leaders will be in a special meeting with Gwinnett leaders.
The reason for the special Gwinnett meeting is a session on a new Georgia law, HB386, which was passed during the recent session of the General Assembly. The meeting, which also will involve other Gwinnett cities, is set for 5 p.m. at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville.

The bill, which was signed into law by Gov. Nathan Deal in April 2012, affects many aspects of taxes and revenue collection in Georgia.
A Gwinnett County spokesperson noted that the county and Gwinnett cities will be meeting to discuss local government energy excise tax options associated with HB386. However, further details are not available.
According to a newsletter from the Georgia Socieity of CPAs, HB386 affects such things as tax exemptions for married couples and sales taxes on motor vehicles.
The Suwanee City Council meeting is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.
