With all the severe weather in Suwanee and Gwinnett recently, it's worth noting again that emergency notification is available via all technology.
The City of Suwanee offers CodeRED, a notification system that is meant for use in conditions like those of Wednesday (January 30), which has seen a tornado watch and severe thunderstorm warning.
The system, which was launched last September, offers:
- General information: People can sign up for alerts on events and non-emergencies.
- Weather: These are issued through CodeRED, not the city.
- Emergencies: These would be issued by the city. Allen said there would be a "high threshold" for these, terming this for a "bona fide emergency," on such things as a water main break.
People can sign up and learn more about the system on the city website.
