This weekend, normally placid Sims Lake Park in Suwanee again will become "haunted."
The Aurora Theater in Lawrenceville will bring Terror On The Trail, a haunted attraction, to the park's 1.2-mile trail on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 21-22. Tours will begin at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. The event began last weekend.
“Teenage zombies will lead guests to tormented, tortured souls, who will recount for them their personal tales of horror,” Al Stilo, director of sales and marketing for Aurora Theatre, said in a media release. “The legions of undead who haunt the lake subsist on human fear, and our storytellers are charged by their zombie captors to frighten folks for their pleasure and sustenance.”
In reality, Stilo said, Terror on the Trail is somewhere between a historic storytelling and haunted house experience, featuring professional storytellers who weave a new mythology and lore around the historical grounds that surround Sims Lake. There are some special effects, but nothing will jump out to startle visitors.
Guests are encouraged to wear appropriate footwear and to dress for the weather. No flashlights, please. The tour is wheelchair accessible, but strollers are not permitted. The tour is not recommended for children under 10; it is strongly suggested that children 12 and younger be accompanied by an adult.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the park. Sims Lake Park is at 4600 Suwanee Dam Road, 30024. For more information, visit www.terroronthetrail.com or call the Aurora Theatre, 678-226-6222.
