Suwanee Restaurant Inspections: Twisted Taco
How did the eatery on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road fare in two recent health checks?
Twisted Taco is one of the newer restaurants in Suwanee, having opened in summer 2012 in a vacant building near Taco Mac.
And in two health inspections in late January 2013, the Tex-Mex style eatery received consecutive "C" grades, for scores in the 70s.
The inspections were done by the East Metro Health District, a function of the Gwinnett, Newton and Rockdale Health Department.
In an inspection on Jan. 24, Twisted Taco scored a "73/C." Among the following violations noted then:
- Ready-to-eat potentially hazardous foods prepared in house not discarded after 7 days: tamales 1/17, corn bean salsa 1/17, tzaziki 1/16, roasted tomato sauce 12/29 & 1/9, chimichurri 1/16, shredded cheese 1/14, salsa verde 1/14, made in house chipotle ranch 1/16, charro beans 1/17, made in house jalapeno mayo 1/2 & 1/16. Foods were discarded. A food that requires datemarking shall be discarded if it exceeds 7 days.
- Unlabeled containers of food at the cookline and in the prep area: sauces, dressing, seasonings/spices, flour, remoulade. Foods were labeled.
- Buildup in 2 soda gun holders. Sticker residue left on clean food containers.
In the Jan. 31, inspection, Twisted Taco scored a "72/C". Among the violations noted then:
- Multiple containers of queso that were made yesterday, not cooled to 41F within a total of 6 hours; temperatures were between 43F and 48F (see temperature chart). Two containers of beans that were made yesterday, not cooled to 41F within a total of 6 hours; temperatures were 45F, 46F. Foods were discarded at time of inspection
Also, this same restaurant received a "63/U" rating in September 2012 before rebounding with a "99/A" score later in September.

Their food is terrible. This is yet another reason to stay away. I bet they'll close by the end of the year.
