Suwanee was spared in Wednesday night's severe weather, with reported activity in Lawrenceville and Dacula.

A tree was reported down on a house in Fort River Way in Dacula, Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services Capt. Tommy Rutledge said. A tree was reported down on a car on Empire Circle off Club Drive in Lawrenceville; and a tree was down across Highway 316 eastbound near Sugarloaf Parkway near Lawrenceville.

All these calls came shortly after midnight, and no injuries were reported.

"We were just part of the lucky ones tonight," Rutledge said. "We are very fortunate that the storms broke apart and lessened in intensity as they moved into our area. Our thoughts and prayers are now with those who were less fortunate in Northwest Georgia and Alabama.  The amount of damage and number of injuries and deaths being reported in Alabama and Georgia is heartbreaking.  It could have been any of us."

A tornado watch had been issued until 2 a.m. Thursday for Gwinnett and 57 other counties.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch until 2 a.m. Thursday for 58 Georgia counties, including Gwinnett.
