The City Of Suwanee soon will add to its strong reputation as an outdoor music performance venue when the band Vertical Horizon takes the Town Center Park amphitheater stage.
The band that rose to fame in the late '90s will play Saturday, Aug. 11, beginning at 8 p.m. Admission is free.
And VH will be coming to Suwanee in the midst of a tour that is bringing renewed fan attention.

One reviewer made a positive online posting about a VH show in June in New York: "This was one of the Best VH shows i have seen, and i have seen them several times. Although i loved the old lineup - the new band - especially the new female bass player were just right on the mark."
Also in June, VH broke some new musical ground when it appeared with the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra in Waikiki.
It was Vertical Horizon’s first concert in Hawaii and the band — founding member Matt Scannell plus Steve Fekete (guitar), Ron LaVella (drums) and Jenn Oberle (electric bass) — made it memorable, according to a review.
According to a review in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, Scannell led the band through a condensed but substantive trip through almost 15 years of music and three albums.
Scannell made it clear in Hawaii that he was very happy to be playing there.
“What a joy to be doing this tonight,” he told the crowd. Later he described the Waikiki concert as “one of the most special nights of our band’s career.”
The appearance by VH also is another achievement for Suwanee. In 2011, the Little River Band, the Atlanta Rhythm Section and the Lovin' Spoonful appeared on the amphitheater stage.
