Another Veterans Day Means More Peace for Former WWII POW

Hank Freedman of Suwanee remembers Nazi Germany first hand. Patch has recaptured those memories, and is bringing them to you again.

It's Veterans Day 2013, which means Hank Freedman of Suwanee again can take special pleasure in recalling and relating exploits of his days as a World War II prisoner in Europe.

Freedman, 92, began his military career in 1942, and lived through a harrowing experience as a prisoner of war in Nazi Germany.

Now, he still enjoys life in retirement in Suwanee, where he attends church services (born Jewish, he converted to Christianity) and speaks to veterans groups.

In 2012, Freedman recalled details of his POW experience and his later retail career in Atlanta to Patch. We bring those stories to you again, for new readers as well as returning ones:

Part 2: WWII POW: 'Our Feelings Can't Be Described' (2nd in Series)

Part 3: From World War II to Retail Career to Suwanee (3rd in Series)
