Flood Watch in Effect Through Wednesday for Suwanee, Gwinnett

The weather system continues to drop rain on the area.

Suwanee and Gwinnett already are soaking wet, but the hazardous situation will continue for awhile.

The National Weather Service has said that a flood watch still is in effect for Gwinnett County until 1 p.m. Wednesday (February 13). More inches of rain are possible.

The service's notice reads in part:

MODERATE TO OCCASIONALLY HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CONTINUE TO SPREAD ACROSS PARTS OF NORTH AND MOST OF CENTRAL GEORGIA THROUGH EARLY WEDNESDAY. SINCE SUNDAY AFTERNOON...BETWEEN ONE AND THREE INCHES OF RAINFALL HAS ALREADY FALLEN ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA WITH ISOLATED AREAS OF THREE TO FOUR INCHES. AN ADDITIONAL 2 TO 4 INCHES IS POSSIBLE ACROSS THE WATCH AREA THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING. LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ARE LIKELY AS SHOWERS CONTINUE TO TRAIN ACROSS THE SAME AREAS.

The NWS said the rain system will leave the area Wednesday afternoon.
