Gwinnett Cornhole League Is Under Way

The bean bag-toss activity has begun play in Suwanee Town Center Park.

That bean-bag toss game called cornhole seems to be popping up everywhere. And so a league has formed in Gwinnett.

According to a Facebook page (see attached illustration), the Gwinnett Cornhole League kicked off Wednesday (Sept. 11) on the turf at Suwanee Town Center Park.

Teams with names such as Corn Husslers and Hole Gravity 2 have a schedule worked out through October.

Origins of the modern game are vague, but seem to date to Native Americans in the Midwest in the past century, according to Wikipedia.

In general, the game involves two sets of bags and two raised platforms. Points are awarded for tossing the bag in the hole, and for getting it on the board.

The Gwinnett Cornhole website contains rules and procedures.
