A newly formed church with a following of thousands will begin meeting regularly at Gwinnett Center in October while it develops a permanent home near Suwanee, its pastor said Tuesday.
Jeff Henderson detailed immediate plans for Gwinnett Church in a webcast Tuesday night. The church, an offshoot of Alpharetta-based North Point Ministries, has not been meeting regularly.
However, it drew almost 2,000 for Easter Sunday services and 1,400 for Good Friday services to the Gwinnett Center in Duluth, staff member Kristen Franklin said this week.
The fall services will begin Oct. 2 at 6 p.m., Henderson said. The night starting time is because of logistics involved in setting up and dismantling the sanctuary in a leased facility.
The church plans a permanent home on 52 acres of land on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Sugar Hill. However, Henderson said it is not known now how long it will take to build there.
Gwinnett Church also sponsored a musical event at the May Toast @ Town Center event in Suwanee, but that was cancelled due to heavy rain.
