Prayer Event Set for Suwanee

Shadowbrook Baptist to hold observance at Town Center Park.

For the second time in recent weeks, Suwanee's Town Center Park will be the site of a religious event.

The National Day of Prayer will be observed locally at the city's main amphitheater on May 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. Shadowbrook Baptist Church will be administering the event, just as it did for Easter sunrise service in April.Β

The nationwide observance became law in 1988, when President Ronald Reagan signed the bill designating the first Thursday in May for observance. In 1952, President Harry Truman signed a proclamation to that effect.
