Smog Alert Issued for Suwanee Area for Friday

Under Code Orange, air is likely to be unhealthy for children or people who are sensitive to ozone.

The National Weather Center issued a Code Orange unhealthy air alert for Friday, June 3, for the metro Atlanta area, including Gwinnett County. Suwanee is in the alert area.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Division issues a Code Orange alert through the National Weather Center when the air has been deemed to be unhealthy for sensitive groups.

Under Code Orange conditions, the air is likely to be unhealthy for children or people who are sensitive to ozone. People with heart or lung disease are advised to limit prolonged outdoor exertion during the late afternoon or early evening when ozone concentrations are highest.
