Another week that was in Suwanee:

Basketball: The Harlem Legends, a Globetrotters offshoot, came to North Gwinnett High for a benefit basketball game. It was more about fun, as Gwinnett resident Michael Douglas turned showman and kept fans entertained throughout.

Schools: These are trying times for public education, and so it is in Gwinnett County. The state's largest school system is completing its 2012 budget, and it must overcome an . Also, it is contending with a controversial redistricting involving the Peachtree Ridge and Duluth clusters.

Baseball: The Gwinnett Braves held their annual Fan Fest on Saturday, warming up for their third season in the area ... The Peachtree Ridge (boys) and North Gwinnett (girls) basketball teams were eliminated from AAAAA basketball tournament play.

Gas leak: Suwanee seems to have fewer emergency situations that other surrounding areas, but a major intersection was shut down Wednesday afternoon. A construction crew accidentally ruptured a natural-gas line, and Old Peachtree Road at Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road had to be closed for a couple of hours. However, no injuries were reported, and no evacuations were necessary.
