Art x2 in Suwanee on Saturday

SculpTour launches along with Arts In The Park.

If you are into art, Suwanee is the place to be Saturday. And if you are not into art, you soon might be.

The city's latest arts initiatives will overlap Saturday in Town Center Park, when SculpTour makes its debut and the city again rolls out Arts In The Park starting at 11 a.m. This is being administered in conjunction with the North Gwinnett Arts Association.

Arts In The Park will give artists such as Charlton Palmer of Lawrenceville a chance to show off some talent and work.

Palmer, originally from New Jersey, is a graphic designer who is into book illustrations and photography. He has taken part in exhibits in Atlanta, including a Jane Fonda charity event. He also has designed book covers for author Joylynn Jolssel.

He describes Suwanee as a "great town. I'm comfortable there, and the people are great." He said Arts In The Park will allow him "to branch out and make an impact."

Palmer plans to share a booth in Suwanee with Chris Hobe of Braselton, originally from Orange County, Calif.

SculpTour is a walkable exhibit of 15 sculptures located around town, mostly in Town Center Park. Online voting will begin in July, and a "people's choice" winner will be purchased by the city for permanent display. SculpTour runs through March.
