Gwinnett Library Has Summer Reading Program for Youths

The Gwinnett County Public Library’s Summer Reading Program is a fun and free way to encourage kids to read to maintain and even improve their reading skills. From now through Aug. 13, young readers can set goals, keep track of books they have read, and collect prizes. The theme for this summer’s program is “One World, Many Stories.”

The Suwanee branch of the Gwinnett library is on Main Street.

A children’s program and a separate program for teens (rising 6th graders and up) are available. Participants may register online or in person at any of the 15 county library branches. Registration packets containing a reading record, sticker, bookmark, and coupons for free treats from local sponsors may be picked up at the library branches.

When reading goals are reached, participants will receive certificates, more coupons, and a free book while supplies last. Weekly drawings offer opportunities for additional prizes.

In June and July library branches will be offering preschool story times, programs for elementary school students, activities for teens, puppet shows, character visits, and special guest performances by artists, musicians, and entertainers. Following the summer reading theme, participants will travel the globe through stories, songs, games, and crafts about different world cultures. 

All programs are free and open to individual children and an accompanying adult. Large groups are not permitted. Please check here for kids events and check here for teen events.
