Suwanee Indie Film Series Has Final Showing

'Heart of Stone' shows Monday at Movie Tavern.

The series of independent films that has been showing in Suwanee draws to a close Monday (April 15) when "Heart of Stone" has its run.

According to a city news release, "Heart of Stone" shows the efforts of a school principal to restore order and learning at one of the most violent schools in the country, Newark's Weequahic High School. The documentary shows how disparate groups, including gangs, can work together to rebuild and revitalize older communities.

Los Angeles Times critic Kevin Thomas writes: "Heart of Stone is a portrait of a dedicated man -- smart, articulate, strong, and tough-minded, yet warm and compassionate, willing and able to reach out and communicate with his students on an individual basis."
