'Age Of Champions' will be shown at the Movie Tavern.

Updated Sept. 18

Suwanee's arts scene moves back on stage Monday (Sept. 17), when the first portion of an independent film festival debuts at the Movie Tavern.

"Age Of Champions," a film about the National Senior Olympics, will be shown at 7 p.m. at the Movie Tavern location, 2855 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, near I-85. Director Christopher Rufo will be on hand to discuss the film with patrons, according to a city news release.

The film follows five athletes who compete for gold medals -- among them a 100-year old tennis champion and some rough and tumble basketball grandmothers as they surmount age limitations, according to the release.

Five additional independent films will be screened at the Movie Tavern through April as part of the Southern Circuit Tour of Independent Filmmakers.
