Summer Magic at Suwanee Library

The Gwinnett Library's Summer Reading Program begins with a unique program.

Keith Farnham couldn't make the rain disappear Monday, but he made some smiles appear on the faces of several youngsters at the Suwanee Library.

Farnham, a magician and ventriloquist, brought his show to the Gwinnett Library branch to launch the Summer Reading Program.

He rolled out several types of tricks and fun in his show, all in front of a podium that read "I Love To Read."

Also, it was a chance for the financially strapped library system to emphasize another of its fund-raising initiatives. "Bucks for Books" is done in conjunction with the. From June 1-Aug. 31, 25 percent of the proceeds of participants' checks at any Gwinnett County Sonic restaurant will be donated back to the Friends of the Gwinnett County Public Library; diners must tell the restaurant carhop that they are eating to support the library.

The Summer Reading Program offers events throughout the system.
