Suwanee Music History Continues April 16

Bluegrass performances at the former Everett Music Barn will resume.

Soon, Suwanee will see a historic music site revived with the familiar sound of bluegrass music.

On , the former Everett Music Barn will come back to life on April 16 under new ownership. The Everett Brothers Band will kick in with the music that made the property popular for decades, new owner Chris Lybeer said.

The Suwanee Music Barn has been preparing for a rebirth since it came under new ownership in March. Lybeer, a Suwanee resident, and others teamed to buy the 1.1-acre property that came up for sale when Roger Everett died in October 2010.

Weekly bluegrass performances were a tradition at the barn near the rear of the property dating to the 1960s. The Everett Brothers, led by Roger and Randall, and many other locals, were the focal point. In April, local talent The Center Stage Bluegrass Band also will play after the Everett band starts things at 8 p.m.

Everett's death at age 61 precipitated the sale. He was the last surviving family member who was a part of the musical heritage, according to Tim Hill, a family member who also was the listing agent for the property. In 1992, the Everett brothers were inducted into the Georgia Country Music Hall of Fame.
