There were some interesting news developments in the Suwanee and Gwinnett area recently. Let's take a rewind.

Human tragedy continued at Lake Lanier, and this time it drew nationwide attention. A personal watercraft hit and injured two children on July 6, with one of them being the son of the former wife of superstar entertainer Usher. Kile Glover remains in critical condition, with some social media commenters calling the lake a 'death trap.'

As advance voting got under way in Gwinnett, an interesting statistic emerged in the BOC District 1 race. Jace Brooks, a former Suwanee City Council member, took an almost 3-1 lead in fund-raising over his opponent, Suwanee accountant Laurie McClain.

Suwanee's No. 1 park, which has been as busy as ever this summer, got a midsummer face lift with some turf repairs.
