What's the Weather Forecast for Suwanee Day?

Looking at conditions for Saturday for the big festival.

Time for a Suwanee Day checklist. Smartphone, check. Sunscreen, check.

Umbrella ... maybe.

Forecasts currently call for a 40 percent to 60 percent chance of showers Saturday (Sept. 21) during the city's signature festival, which begins at 9 a.m. with a parade and lasts until well after dark.

The National Weather Service forecast says: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Cloudy, with a high near 77. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Weather. com says there will be a 40 percent chance of rain, with "scattered" thunderstorms.

For the record, all Suwanee events are "rain or shine" events. However, as noted by the Suwanee Day website, in 2004, the festival was delayed two hours due to Hurricane Ivan. And Suwanee Day went on in 2009 even though it rained almost all day.
