One APD Officer Among 10 Metro Area Officers Arrested for Protecting Drug Dealers - Buckhead Patch

United States Attorney Sally Yates held a news conference Tuesday afternoon to inform citizens about 10 metro Atlanta officers who were arrested this morning for their alleged involvement in protecting presumed cocaine traffickers.

According to U.S. Attorney Yates, the charges, "arose out of an ATF investigation of an Atlanta area street gang in August 2011."  It was in 2011, she said, that "ATF agents learned from an individual associated with the gang that police officers were involved in protecting the gang’s criminal operations, including drug trafficking crimes."

'Vampire Diaries' Scheduled to Film in Stone Mountain City on Thursday - Stone Mountain Patch

The CW television show 'Vampire Diaries' is set to film in the city of Stone Mountain on Valentine's Day (Thursday, Feb.14) and extras  -- specifically, "new faces" covering a wide-ranging age group -- are needed.

The Stone Mountain city council recently approved a filming location agreement with Bonanza Productions, which makes the show.

 - Johns Creek Patch

A 23-year-old man has been sentenced to 220 years in prison for the rape and child molestation of a 3-year-old girl.

Johns Creek Police Detective B.K. Lyles led the initial investigation into the incidents, which occurred in July 2011.

Jason Jerome Hambrick was convicted in a jury trial that ended Friday, Feb. 8, according to Fulton County District Attorney Paul L. Howard Jr. Hambrick was also charged with cruelty to children in the first degree in connection with his sex crimes against a 3-year-old child in his care.
