Anyway, it was another newsy week in and around Suwanee. To recap:

"Days Of Our Lives" tour: Several cast members from the longtime NBC soap opera visited Suwanee City Hall on Monday as part of a national tour promoting a photo book based on the show. Fans came from all over the Southeast, and the turnout was so large that signing continued past 10 p.m. Many still were turned away, but organizers set up a special e-mail address for those unable to purchase a book or get one signed.

Cycling: Speaking of city officials doing unusual things, Council Member Dan Foster rode a bicycle to the state Capitol as part of an event involving many other elected officials.Β 

Police: Suwanee's department will get some new camera and video equipment, thanks to a grant from the state. Also, City Council approved funds for the design of a new police substation. A former gas station at I-85 and Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road will serve as outpost and training facility upon completion.

Gwinnett airport: A group favoring privatization of Briscoe Field, Gwinnett's county-owned airport in Lawrenceville, held a news conference to promote their efforts. Commissioners are considering the move as a cost-saving measure.

Sports: The Georgia High School Association put off until May a reclassification effort. One plan would have created a new 6-A class, another would have four classes for the regular season and eight for the playoffs. ... football coach Bill Ballard resigned to take a job in White County, according to news reports.
