Diggers is 'Super' Special

The Suwanee bar and grill is a little different.

Some people do not like going to bar and grill restaurants with the family because it feels as if the kids are in a bar. Some people search out sports bars because they do not want a "family atmosphere" and prefer to just watch the game. At Diggers, you can do either.

Food at Diggers, located on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard near McGinnis Ferry Road, is typical favorite bar and grill food, such as baby back ribs, wings, and burgers. But added to the menu are hearty salads, salmon, and seafood. Classic appetizers like nachos are kicked up a notch at BBQ Chicken Nachos. Some appetizers are signature Diggers, like the Baja Wrappers, a wonton wrap stuffed with chicken, chorizo, cheese, and pinto beans.

When you walk into Diggers, there are two choices of seating. To the left is the bar area. Not like a typical bar and grill restaurant, the bar is completely closed off from the strictly dining seating. A sign proclaims that only people 21 and older are allowed through those doors. To the right is a dining room where all are welcome.

If you are there with those younger than 21, don't worry. The dining area still serves alcohol and there are still plenty of flat screen TVs with every sports channel imaginable playing. In fact, on the one wall that there is not a flat screen, there is a window to the opposite side and a view to a flat screen. For those that choose the bar side, there is still a full menu to order from.

The owners of Diggers, Paul and Flay Dalrymple , are brothers who are from North Georgia. Their goal for the restaurant is to "serve favorite food and drinks in a comfortable place." The willingness of Diggers to serve their community is evident, as they sponsor and support local schools and recreation leagues.

Even waiter Nico Robison said that his favorite part of the restaurant is its location. "Being in a residential area, and the customers that come in from around the area make it a great place to work." Robison enjoys his job enough to want to stay and become a bartender when he is able to, at the age of 21.Β

Diggers, as another way of reaching out to the community, has several ways to advertise. You can join the Diggs Loyalty Club for discounts and special offers, the Diggs List for e-mailed coupons and deals, and can even find them on Facebook.

The restaurant also offers special deals for holidays or special sporting events. For the upcoming Super Bowl, Yueng and Wing is a special where you place an order for wings and order a Yuengling in exchange for a free 20-ounce football shaped commemorative glass. Reservations are recommended, and pre-game starts at 5 pm. Kickoff for Sunday's Super Bowl 45 is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Diggers calls itself a "gathering place for you and your neighbors." With a menu full of favorites and food straight from the grill, you and your neighbors will leave with a full and happy stomach.
