How Did Suwanee Pizza Tavern, Friends, Other Restaurants Score on Health Checks?

Suwanee Restaurant Inspections takes a look at the latest ratings from the Gwinnett Health Department.

There were no failing scores in the most recent Suwanee restaurant inspections by the Gwinnett Health Department.

The latest inspections include:

  • Friends Sports Grill: The restaurant on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road scored an "88/B" on May 28. Violations included:

Mold-like buildup inside the ice machine. Ice machine was cleaned at the time of inspection. Food contact surfaces shall be cleaned at a frequency necessary to preclude accumulation of soil or mold.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.

  • Suwanee Pizza Tavern: The eatery on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard received a "71/C" rating on May 28. Violations included:

Chemicals stored with dry food items: Murray's Oil Soap wood cleaner and Febreze air freshener aerosol spray stored together on same shelf with crushed red pepper and coffee grounds in a cabinet. Remove the chemicals from this location. All toxic substances must be stored separately from food items.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.

Multiple foods not being maintained at proper temperature: Cajun cream, garlic with oil, and sliced cheese. Discard the cajun cream. Move the garlic oil and sliced cheese into the reach-in compartment under the pizza makeline. Foods held cold for safety must be maintained at 41F or less.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.

  • Wasabi & Sushi:  The restaurant on Old Peachtree Road scored a "91/A" on May 28. Violations included:

Raw chicken stored on top of raw pork. Raw chicken stored above raw fish and raw beef. Chicken placed on bottom of cooler. All raw animal products must be stored according to internal cook temperatures.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.

  • Yu Ka Roll and Pho: The restaurant on Old Peachtree Road scored an "84/B" on May 28 after having its permit suspended earlier in May. Among the violations: 

Multiple foods listed on the menus state "crab, crabmeat", but imitation crabmeat is used instead. Facility does not use crabmeat. Food shall be offered for human consumption in a way that does not mislead or misinform the consumer. New menu template had previously been approved, but new menus were not printed. Correct menus so that these foods are honestly presented.  New Violation.
