Suwanee Restaurant Inspections: Suwanee Pizza Tavern, Uptown Grille, and Others

Here are some recent health checks of Suwanee restaurants, as conducted by the Gwinnett Board of Health:

• SUWANEE PIZZA TAVERN: The eatery on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard scored a "92/A" on June 3. Among the violations noted: 

Food debris is accumulated underneath the lids of the salad prep cooler. Clean underneath prep cooler lids. Ensure that equipment surfaces are kept free of accumulations of soil, debris, or mold.  Corrected On-Site.  Repeat Violation.

• UPTOWN GRILLE: The restaurant on Town Center Avenue scored a "93/A" on June 3. Among the violations noted:

Observed mechanical warewashing, hot water sanitization below 160F (154.3). Person in charge had company come out and fix issue. Advised person in charge hot water sanitizer must be over 160F.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.

• MORI HOUSE: The sushi restaurant on Suwanee Dam Road scored a "93/A' on June 3. Among the violations noted:

Large container of shrimp thawing by an unapproved method. The person in charge turned on the water to flow over the shrimp. All items should be thawed by an approved method such as in cooler over night, submerged in water with water flowing over the item to flush off bacteria or other approved method to help prevent possible contamination.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.

• ASIAN STAR: The restaurant on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road scored a "98/A" on June 3. Among the violations noted:

 Shelves in coolers and above 4 compartment sink observed rusted. Shelves must be maintained in good repair. Please have shelves painted or replaced.  New Violation.
