Mice Droppings, Other Violations Noted as Suwanee Restaurant Gets 'U'

Suwanee Restaurant Inspections: See the latest health checks of area eateries.

Dillard's BBQ & Biscuits, the familiar restaurant located at one of Suwanee's busiest intersections, recently underwent a routine health inspection by the Gwinnett Health Department.

The restaurant at 2 Buford Highway (at the Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road intersection) received a "56/U" score on Dec. 27. Among the violations noted:

Violation of Code: [.07(5)(k) ] 1. Ants were present on the shelf near the drive thru window.
2. Mice droppings were noted throughout the facility especially in the dry storage area.
Facility has Cook's Pest Control treating facility once a month. Advised Owner to keep floors, counters and equipment thoroughly clean to prevent pest issues in addition to pest control treatment. Pest control company to return 4 weeks. Will return within 10 days to check and see if issue has been improved/resolved.
Must ensure that insects, rodents or animals are not present within the facility.  New Violation. Correct By: 01/06/2014

Violation of Code: [.05(7)(a)2,3 ] Food-contact surfaces of cooking equipment and pans not kept free of encrusted grease deposits and other soil accumulations.
Nonfood-contact surfaces of equipment not cleaned at a frequency necessary to preclude accumulation of soil residues
Nonfood-contact surfaces of equipment not kept free of an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris.
Many food and nonfood contact surfaces of equipment and cooking equipment not being cleaned frequently and properly.
PLEASE CLEAN THESE SURFACES THOROUGHLY AND FREQUENTLY TO PRECLUDE THE ACCUMULATION OF FOOD RESIDUE, DUST, DIRT AND SOIL RESIDUES.
Items that need to be cleaned are shelves, exterior of hot hold units, refrigerators, interior of freezer, counter-top by drive-thru, top of steam table, etc.  New Violation.

Violation of Code: [.04(4)(q) ] Food on display not protected from contamination. Spices and other food in dry storage area not protected from contamination. Some of these foods are left open without a lid. Some spices have lids but have holes in the top for pouring. Suggested to owner that he get a container with a lids to put all these items in since he does not have the lids for all of them. Must store food so that it is protected from contamination.  New Violation.
