New Schlotzsky's To Open Thursday in Suwanee Gateway

The eatery near I-85 is having some festivities and giveaways for its debut.

Another sign of new life in the Suwanee Gateway -- Schlotzsky's Deli is opening for business.

According to a company news release, Schlotzsky's will open Thursday, May 2, on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road near I-85. It will be in a revamped building that once housed a Mrs. Winner's chicken eatery. This building, at 2941 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, is across from the new Suwanee Police substation at I-85. Store hours are 11 a.m.-9 p.m.

“With our addictive recipes, upbeat surroundings and funny sayings, we’re adding tremendous flavor to the Suwanee fast-casual dining scene,” Rutesh Shah, who owns the new Schlotzsky’s location, said in the news release. “It’s hard not to smile when you walk into our bright new restaurant, smell the bread baking and see how much fun we have with ‘bun humor.’ The local community is in for a real treat.”

Some events and giveaways are planned for opening day. One of them: The first 100 customers who purchase a "CinnaPac" of six Cinnabon Classic rolls will receive a free The Original (small) sandwich a week for a year.

Schlotzsky’s menu offers more than 15 sandwiches on round buns, as well as gourmet pizzas made with crusts from scratch, made-to-order salads, soups and desserts. Also, a Cinnabon bakery offers cinnamon rolls and soft-serve ice cream.

The Schlotzsky's opening is the latest result of the city's efforts to renovate the Gateway business district.

that is near the Schlotzsky's location. The city plans to demolish the hotel and hold onto the property for an undetermined future use.
