Tips for Saving With Coupons

Frugal Family passes on the secrets of an expert.

This week’s first edition is "Couponing with Kim."

One of my closest friends is a coupon queen. She has taught me amazing ways to save money. I asked her if she would share her tips with fellow moms and everyone else that wants to save money. She had so many great ideas! I am excited to share three of them with you today.

-- Make a Money Saving Book: You will need a binder, dividers, and 8x10 baseball card protection sheets. All of these items can be found at most of local dollar stores. You can organize your money book by the aisles of your grocery store, by product type, or any way that works best for you. The baseball card protection sheets make seeing your coupons and the expiration dates easier. As you shop, pull out the ones you are going to use. Keep your binder in your car so it is always with you.

-- Buy two Sunday papers: This tip is especially great for those of us with big families. You get two of each coupon instead of one. (Kroger sells the paper in two-packs for $3 on Sundays.) Be sure to check the circulars for store coupons as well.

-- You can use a manufacturer's coupon and a store coupon together. In most cases the item is free!
