Which Suwanee Restaurant Had Its Permit Suspended?

Suwanee Restaurant Inspections again checks on the health inspection of a local eatery.

In a recent inspection by the Gwinnett Health Department, Yuka Roll and Pho in Suwanee had its permit suspended, and was told to undergo a compliance hearing.

In an inspection on May 21, the restaurant at 1197 Old Peachtree Road scored a "45/U" after several violations were noted. It is the second "U" score for the restaurant since March.

The compliance hearing was set for Wednesday in Lawrenceville.

Among the violations noted in the inspection were:

Multiple bottles of bleach stored above rice & barley on the storage shelves. Chemicals moved away from food/food areas at the time of inspection. Poisonous or toxic materials shall be stored so they can not contaminate food, equipment, utensils, linens, and single service and single-use articles by: 1. Separating the poisonous or toxic materials by spacing or partitioning; and 2. Locating the poisonous or toxic materials in an area that is not above food, equipment, utensils, linens, and single-service or single-use articles.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.

Raw fish stored in the same container as cooked shrimp & ready-to-eat fish cakes in the sushi reachin cooler. Cooked scallops cooling in the sushi prep sink, while raw tuna was thawing on the prep sink drainboard; soap, soap & metal were also stored on the drainboard, next to the food. Unwashed produce stored above cut produce, washed produce, ready-to-eat foods in the walkin cooler. Raw animal foods moved to ready-to-eat foods. Soap, sponge & metal scrubber stored below the prep sink. Scallops moved to walkin cooler to cool. Salmon moved to the walkin cooler. Unwashed produce moved below washed/ ready-to-eat/cut produce & ready-to-eat foods. Food shall be protected from cross contamination by: 1) storing raw animal foods below/away from ready-to-eat foods away; 2) storing unwashed produce below/away from washed/cut produce, ready-to-eat/cooked foods; 3) only doing 1 task at a time in the prep sink example) a) thawing food or b) cooling food; 4) prepping food away from chemicals & cleaning products/sponges/metal scrubbers.  Corrected On-Site.  Repeat Violation.

Multiple foods listed on the menus state "crab, crabmeat", but imitation crabmeat is used instead. Facility does not use crabmeat. Food shall be offered for human consumption in a way that does not mislead or misinform the consumer. New menu template had previously been approved, but new menus were not printed. Correct menus so that these foods are honestly presented.  New Violation.
