Hardly a day goes by that we don't hear how man-caused climate change/global warming(henceforth: CCGW) is in danger of making our planet an inhospitable desert unfit for us and/or especially our children to live on. Alarmists seem to be on every newscast and website. Just the other day on our beloved Patch, this article was posted: Climate Change: Do You Believe Humans Are at Fault?
I commented there, and want to reiterate what I said here in a blog post and to give you some tips on thinking clearly about these matters.
CCGW is far from settled science. There are many reports out that refute both the severity claimed by CCGW alarmists and even the findings by CCGW alarmists. Here are a few:
New York Times: no global warming in the last 15 years, despite CO2 increase
UK scientists predict global cooling after record Arctic ice growth
Global warming: antarctic sea ice extents hits 35-year record high
So, in the last 15 years, there has been a "lull" in global warming, and both polar ice caps are growing at record rates (prompting some to predict a coming ice age). And, by the way, those poor old polar bears are doing just fine.
The red flag here is how politicized CCGW has become. When a topic becomes so highly and toxically political, you can bet that you will not hear a "fair and balanced" report of all the facts in today's media (no, not even on FOX News, although they do a little better than most).
We should all be willing to dig a little deeper into issues like these. Keeping ourselves informed will inoculate us against misinformation that is politically driven.
As a Christian, I am confident that CCGW as put forth by the pundits, politicians, and alarmists is untrue. Our God has created the processes that regulate the global climate, and he has promised us that "While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease." (Genesis 8:22)
