8-Year-Old Among I-575 Fatalities - Canton-Sixes Patch

One of two people killed in an afternoon crash that temporarily shutdown Interstate 575 South was 8 years old, the spokesman for the Cobb County Police Department said this evening.

Just before 2 p.m. Monday, Abraham Fernandez-Zuniga of Acworth was driving a red 2001 Chrysler Town and Country minivan northbound on I-575 with the 8-year-old passenger in tow. At the same time, Earldean Clayton of Rex was driving southbound on I-575 in a white 2007 International 7600 commercial vehicle.

"For reasons unknown, the Chrysler exited the left side of the roadway, and continued in a northwesterly direction through the center median," said Officer Mike Bowman, the department's spokesman. "As the Chrysler entered into the southbound lanes, it was struck in the driver’s side by the commercial truck."

Forsyth Teen Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash - Cumming Patch

A 17-year-old Forsyth Central High School student died early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash, according to the Georgia State Patrol and Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

Sgt. Jonathan Barrett of GSP told Cumming Patch that Peter Ian Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. GSP received the call to Sawnee Drive and Jackson Drive in north Forsyth County around 12:36 a.m.

Sgt. Barrett said Roberts, who was driving a 1995 Toyota Avalon, was headed westbound on Sawnee Drive when he crossed over into the eastbound lane and overcorrected. By doing so he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a brick mailbox.

- Buckhead Patch

Atlanta police say a man is in custody and is the lone suspect in Monday's bank robbery attempt at Fifth Third Bank in the 3300 block of Peachtree Road, near Lenox Mall.

Officer Greg Lyon with APD Public Affairs told Buckhead Patch that the suspect used a note to rob the bank. The would-be robber "made it outside with an unknown amount of cash but dropped the money when the ink pack exploded."

Man Getting Unwelcome Calls Learns His Number Is in Craigslist Sex Ad - Norcross Patch

A man believes one of his ex-employees is behind a Craigslist sex ad that has caused him to receive harassing phone calls.

The man told police he started receiving calls from people he didn't know. He asked one of the them where he found the phone number, and the caller said it was from Craigslist.

Apparently there was an ad offering the "best [oral sex] in town," and his work cell phone was listed as the contact number, according to the victim.
