4. Television: Choices include "Modern Family," 9 p.m., ABC.

5. Today in History: On this date in 1980, the U.S. Olympic hockey team pulled off one of sports' most memorable upsets. The team composed of collegians defeated the four-time defending gold medal Soviet team 4-3 in the Winter Games in Lake Placid, N.Y. The so-called "Miracle On Ice" -- see the attached video -- was more than just an Olympic upset; to many Americans, it was an ideological victory in the Cold War as meaningful as the Berlin Airlift or the Apollo moon landing. Two days later, the U.S. defeated Finland for the gold medal. (Source: history.com.)
