Flooding Affects Suwanee Creek

A flood warning was extended until Monday. Greenway and trails reportedly are flooded.

Suwanee Creek and nearby areas have been affected by Sunday's thunderstorms, as a flood warning has been extended until Monday morning (May 20).

According to the National Weather Service, a flood warning for Suwanee Creek was extended to 10:41 a.m., as the stage was at 8.5 feet and falling as of 3 a.m. Monday.

The alert read in part:

THE RIVER WILL CONTINUE TO FALL TO BELOW FLOOD STAGE BY LATER THIS MORNING. * AT 9.0 FEET... MINOR FLOODING EXPANDS ALONG THE CREEK UPSTREAM AND DOWNSTREAM FROM THE GAGE AT U S HIGHWAY 23 OR BUFORD HIGHWAY. MOST OF THE SUWANEE CREEK GREENWAY AND TRAILS ARE FLOODED FROM THE SUWANEE CREEK PARK TO GEORGE PIERCE PARK. THE MINOR FLOODING WILL ALSO BEGIN TO AFFECT PORTIONS OF THE PLAYGROUND AREA BEHIND THE SUWANEE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.

Suwanee Creek affects areas from Buford Highway near Town Center to Smithtown Road near Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road.
