Gwinnett Braves Regain First Place

Norfolk falls as play resumes after All-Star break.

The Gwinnett Braves resumed play after the All-Star break with another victory Thursday, extending their winning streak to three with a 3-2 victory over Norfolk at Coolray Field.

With the win, Gwinnett (51-41) regained first place in the International League South by a half-game over Durham.

G-Braves pitcher Christhian Martinez (2-1) allowed six hits and two runs in six innings to earn the win. Ed Lucas doubled in Ruben Gotay in the second inning with the deciding run.

The teams play again Friday (7:05 p.m.) at Coolray Field. There also will be the usual postgame Friday fireworks.
