5. Today in History: On Nov. 19, 1863, President Lincoln delivered one of the most famous speeches in American history, the Gettysburg Address. It consisted of a mere 272 words, but articulated the meaning of the Civil War for a public that had grown tired of the conflict. (Source: history.com.)
