5. Today in History: On this date in 2001, the Arizona Diamondbacks staged a ninth-inning rally to defeat the New York Yankees to win the World Series. The D'backs were in their fourth year, making them the youngest World Series champion ever. Also, the Yankees were seeking their fourth straight Series title. The winning run scored when Luis Gonzales lifted a popup over a drawn-in Yankee infield. (Source: history.com)
